Millennium Station, Chicago IL

For commuters from the south shore and suburbs, Millennium Station is their front door to Chicago and to Millennium Park at the heart of the city. Peter met the challenges of the space, confined below Randolph & Michigan streets, by creating an illusion of height and natural light with a wavelike ceiling of luminous panels. The flowing pathways on the stations floor serve as way finding for train passengers, as well as animating the station with an energy that anticipates the dynamic city above.

“Design has great power to bring delight to the public realm. Architects, artists and engineers together can transform our cities into works of civic art that also better serve residents & commuters needs.”
